| 03/29/2006 CYPRESS, Calif. — The 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander and the Mitsubishi Concept-X, both of which made their debuts at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, will be formally introduced to the U.S. market at April's New York auto show, officials said. The redesigned Outlander, which shares its underpinnings with the 2007 Dodge Caliber , gets more space and up to seven seats for the '07 model year. The Outlander's optional 3.0-liter V6 is mated to a standard six-speed Sportronic automatic transmission. The SUV, a critical part of Mitsubishi's global portfolio, will be built in Japan and China. The Concept-X, described by the company as a "design study," hints at future Evolution design. This concept mates a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine to a six-speed auto-manual transmission and includes an onboard multimedia system.
