Mitsubishi Outlander | Funny story. Turns out those leaked shots of Peugeot's 4007 SUV were the real thing, and we've awoken today to a couple of
press releases introducing it and its Citroen C-Crosser sibling
(pictured) to the European market. Like the 4007, the C-Crosser is
the product of a joint venture with Mitsubishi to produce branded
versions of the Outlander -- mainly to establish a presence in the
mini-ute segment. Such small SUVs stand to become as prevalent on
the continent as soap and decent burgers (read: cooked), and the
French would rather not just hand the market off to Toyota thank
you very much. A biofuel-capable 2.2 HDi diesel engine, developed
with Ford Europe, will power the two, and both will come standard
with six-speed manual. Sales of the French utes will reportedly
begin in mid 2007, following an introduction at the Geneva auto
show.
