| 04/13/2006 Thank you Mitsubishi for not playing techno music on your auto show stand. The refreshing blend of international pop/hip hop was probably the best music I've heard in a year of auto shows. Anytime a car company wants to appeal to younger buyer, they blast the techno. The 90s over and I'm so over techno - and so is every other sane person. Thanks again Mitsubishi. Although they did show the new Outlander and Concept X (the next Lancer will look a lot like it) the whole purpose of the presentation was to remind us that Mitsubishi has been in the US for 25 - they had a large screen that flashed pictures of old Mitsus like the Starion and Galant VR4. Unfortunately, the big screen above the stage went blank just as the playing video was about to tout the next 25 years. It was probably just a minor electrical glitch but the timing was terrible. The truth is, Mitsubishi's cars are actually good. However, they characterized their US sales as a "Challenging Situation" Luckily, the new Outlander is much better looking and will be offered with such features as 18-inch wheels and a new 220 hp V6. There's also a 650 watt Rockford Fosgate stereo. Company officials also said the new Outlander and the upcoming Lancer will share a platform. Interesting. Edmunds.com/Inside Line |
